Making the rosette
The rosette is one of the areas of the guitar in which luthiers can express their artistic creativity, making each guitar unique. The function of the rosette is more than just decorative, it strengthens the area of the sound hole to prevent possible cracks and other problems. Working the marquetry for the rosette, back strip, endblock strip and purfling is strteamely rewarding, though it is slow and detail work.
