Nueva Vida (a special build) The Soundboard The Neck The Rosette The Back and Sides Caring for your guitar

The Classical Guitar Soundboard

My soundboards are made out of either European or Canadian Engelmann spruce or cedar. My bracing is made of spruce.

Making the soundboard

The soundboard (tapa) is the single most important piece of a guitar. About 90% of the sound of a guitar is produced on this one surface. The material selection is extremely important. My soundboards are of either Spruce or Cedar. My spruce will be either European spruce or Canadian Engelmann spruce.

Setting up

Preparing the thickness of the soundboard
Main shape is cut and we are ready to layout the bracing pattern
Glueing the fan braces, Hauser style bracing pattern
The braces are shaped either by rounding them or in a triangular shape, in this case they are rounded
This soundboard has influences from Antonio Torres and Romanillos with my own twists, fan shaped in a triangular mode
A Torres FE17 soundboard pattern contains five fan braces shaped in a triagular mode
Another Torres FE17 with some of my own modifications
